In the first part of this article we selected Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Alexis Sanchez as the leading contenders to win the Ballon d'Or award in 2016. Now let's take a look at other players who're in the running for this year's prize.

Paul Pogba

With the Euro 2016 taking place in France the hosts are going to need a leader who can bring the trophy to them. The biggest candidate to take that role will be Paul Pogba, who can easily claim the title of best player in the country.

The Juventus midfielder has everything the modern central-midfielder should have, including a brilliant long shot, terrific endurance and great passing ability. We are not sure if he will stay in Juventus for the next season, but it won’t make a difference for a young player with skills like Pogba.

Mesut Ozil

If he can continue to maintain his form Mesut Ozil could end the year with a whole array of awards to his name.

In many people's opinion he is currently the best player in the Premier League, and few Soccer experts will argue with that thesis. If he can deliver the Premiership title to Arsenal and then bring the same winning form to Euro 2016 he should have a great chance to win the Ballon d’Or. The German maestro, just like his Arsenal teammate Alexis Sanchez, needs to improve his game even more and take it to the next level

Luis Suarez and Neymar

Barcelona fans are the luckiest in the world.

They can admire players like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. The Argentinian has been awarded the Ballon d’Or five times, but his teammates can achieve that too. Luis Suarez is easily one of the top strikers in the world. He's improved his game since he moved to Barcelona in 2014, and 2016 offers him a great opportunity to move to the top. His Brazilian teammate Neymar took 3rd place in the 2015 Ballon d'Or and he will be hungry to outshine Messi and Ronaldo in 2016.

A lot will depend on his performance during the Copa America, where he will compete with the Argentinian. Neymar showed remarkable talent when Messi was injured but the question is if he can dominate the game of soccer like Messi did?
