Williams moved on to the Australian Open semifinals with scores against Sharapova of 6-4 and 6-1 when they played each other during the quarterfinals Tuesday. It was Williams’ 18th win in a row and the 19th win out of the 21 times the two players have faced each other since 2004.

Williams’ opponent in the semifinals will be 4th seed Agnieszka Radwanska.

Radwanska from Poland, got to the semifinals after winning against 10th rated Carola Suarez Navarro by scores of 6-1, and 6-3.

Roger Federer heads to Australian Open Semifinals in Men’s Tennis

Switzerland’s Roger Federer will be playing in the semifinals in Australia for the 12th time after winning against 6th rated Czech Tomas Berdych by scores of 7-6 (4), 6-2, and 6-4. He has won the match in Australia four times, and this win against Berdych helps him get back at him after he lost to Berdych in 2010 in the Wimbledon match, as well as in 2012 during the US Open.

Federer will be the oldest guy to play in the Australian Open since Colin Dibley in 1979. He will now play against Novak Djokovic, a 5-time winner of the match.

Novak Djokovic has never lost when he’s played in the semifinals of the Australian Open match. Federer is considered to be a serious opponent to play against Djokovic.

Williams, Radwanska match expected to be challenging for both

For the women’s semifinals, the two ladies will be in a challenging game for both of them.

Agnieszka Radwanska was the winner in her last four semifinal games at a major tennis match, but is said to have never been the winner of a Grand Slam title. Plus, Williams’ record playing Radwanska is 8-0.

When it comes to the men’s match, Federer is said to have taken a lot of heat from Djokovic ever since Djokovic beat him out in rankings.

The Australian Open semifinals is set now to pit number one-seeded Serena Williams against fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska for the women and first place Novak Djokovic versus third-seed Roger Federer for the men.
