This year's WTA Final in Singapore will be, with no question, very interesting. And this is possible simply because the world no. 1 Serena Williams will not be among the participating. She decided, a couple of weeks ago, to end her season prematurely. And for other tennis players this is quite an opportunity. The battle for the title will be fueled by the desire of each player to take the trophy.

This competition brings together8 players which are divided into 2 groups. In the first one, The Red Group, will be S. Halep ( world no. 2 ), M. Sharapova (3), A. Radwanska (6) and F. Pennetta (8). In the second one, The White Group, will be G.

Muguruza Blanco (4), P. Kvitova (5), A.Kerber (7) and L. Safarova (9).

Surely the absence of Serena will stimulate competition. Each of the 8 players may at any time win the big trophy. By the way, it is very well known that the difference in value between the Top 10 tennis player is insignificant. It all depends on the form and motivation at the start of the match.

The Singapore tournament has a prize pool totalling $7 million. At the 2014 Edition, the new comer Simona Halep has had an extraordinary evolution.Halep has played lovely into the group, beating the world leader, Serena Williams with a stunning 6-0, 6-2, after defeating Eugenie Bouchard (Canada) 6-2, 6-3. Halep has lost in the last match with Ana Ivanovic, 7-6 (7), 3-6, 6-3.

In the semifinals Halep defeated Radwanska with 6-2 6-2, being beaten in the final by Williams 6-3, 6-0.

Maybe that's why Halep has a small advantage in front of other contenders. The desire to exceed last year's performance can crown her as queen in Singapore.

However, a quick overview shows that no player from those present had a brilliant season. The only player who managed a notable result is Pennetta.

She won the U.S. Open in early September after a final with Roberta Vinci.

Thus, the motivation is great from all the players. Every one of them wants to save its season with this title. The trophy from Singapore is the most important in WTA circuit after the Grand Slam.
