French National Soccer team has won 1-0 against Portugal in an international friendly match at Sporting Lisbon’s stadium Estadio Jose Alvalade on Friday. The only goal in the game was scored by Mathieu Valbuena in the last minutes of the game. Fans had to wait until the end of the game as both teams played in a really defensive way.

Portugal began the game in a good form after winning against Italy in their last game. France came off after losses against Belgium and Albania. However, Portugal had previously lost their five games in a row, including 2-1 defeat against France in October.

Strong squads

Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani started the game on the wings as they were expected to add the goals in the game. France decided to play their best players with Paul Pogba in centre midfield and Karim Benzema in attack, who both scored in the last international game.

Just after few minutes of the game, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema had a great chance to give his team the lead but he was stopped by his club teammate Pepe.In 31st minute of the game Blaise Matuidi should have scored a goal, but the midfielder was denied by Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio, who save the with his leg. Portugal tried to answer with the free-kick from world’s best footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, but Hugo Lloris saved it easily.

France dominated the game

With France in control of possession but with a lack of scoring chances, French coach decided to brought Martial on for his international debut. It was his first game since joining English soccer club Manchester United in the last day of the transfer window. Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny stopped Cristiano Ronaldo with his great defensive performance.

In the last minutes of the game, Mathieu Valbuena decided to take the free-kick from 25-yards out. He kicked the ball over the wall and made sure that the goalkeeper can’t stop his effort. The match ended with 1-0 results, which was fair because France deserved the win.
