We have reached that time of year where fantasy football takes center stage for a lot of people. Baseball season is dragging along and football is just around the corner. Owners need to prepare for this season and it starts with the quarterback position. It is deep but it doesn’t mean that owners should wait too long to select one in their draft. Here is a look at the top ten ranked quarterbacks going into the 2015 season for fantasy purposes.

  1. Andrew Luck
  2. Aaron Rodgers
  3. Drew Brees
  4. Peyton Manning
  5. Tom Brady
  6. Russell Wilson
  7. Matthew Stafford
  8. Matt Ryan
  9. Cam Newton
  10. Tony Romo

There is a clear starting point with the quarterback position.

Luck and the Indianapolis offense is going to score points in bunches. The same thing is true with Rodgers and the Packers. Those two players should be taken in the first ten or 12 picks of the draft no matter what. Owners who wait any longer than that are going to be sorely disappointed that they waited on the young quarterbacks.

The next two down with Brees and Manning are the meanings of consistency and 5,000-yard seasons. While Brees is likely going to have some issues this season without Jimmy Graham in the offense, he still has Brandin Cooks to throw to and a running game that will take some pressure off him finally. Manning and the Broncos are going to score a lot of points as well and like Brees, there is a running game to make things work even better. It's not like baseball season or anything.

If owners are looking for a big time sleeper though outside the top ten, there is always Ben Roethlisberger to consider with an offense that should clearly average nearly 30 points a game.

If an owner really wants to wait and stock up elsewhere, this would be the time to do it. Big Ben is going to bring big points for someone this season. There are some issues with other quarterbacks but Roethlisberger is likely sitting at QB #11 for a lot of leagues. Trades will happen though.

This is a season overall though where owners need to be focusing on the quarterback position in a way that they haven’t in a very long time. The NFL is now all about the passing game and having an elite quarterback is the way to go for fantasy football success these days. Good luck with the draft!
