The new trailer

So far, we've only seen Broly destroying Goku and Vegeta in every trailer, but it looks like the tables have turned with the birth of Gogeta.

The new trailer shows off the combined power of the Saiyans against Broly and how easily Gogeta dodges Broly's wave blasts:

It's also confirmed from the trailer that Gogeta can transform into Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Blue form in the upcoming movie. The character animation reveals that it's designed under the supervision of Naohiro Shintani, although, most of the clothing on him is similar to the original character, except for the coloring of the clothes.

The power-level of Gogeta shows that even Broly is no match for the fusion because Gogeta in his Super Saiyan Blue form is at par with the original Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. This trailer also puts "Vegito vs. Gogeta" debate to rest because this form is clearly more powerful than the Potara fusion.

Why do they need the Dragon Balls?

We have yet to see Goku and Vegeta do the Fusion Dance for achieving this fusion, but the question is, why is Bulma looking for Dragon Balls? So far, we know that when the film begins, Bulma would've successfully obtained six Dragon Balls before Freeza and his army steals them from her lab.

For the possession of the last Dragon Ball, Goku [VIDEO], Vegeta, and the rest of the team arrive at the Arctic region only find that Freeza is already waiting for them. He teams up with Broly and Paragus to launch an attack against the two Saiyans.

We're not sure why Bulma is gathering the Dragon Balls, but Freeza might use them for achieving immortality, which was his original plan in the Freeza arc. Some lucky fans have already watched the movie in this month's premiere, but "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" will be released in Japan on December 14, 2018. Funimation will also be releasing the movie in the United States and Canada on January 16, 2019.
