The next movie on the way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is "Captain Marvel" which will give the MCU their first standalone female superhero film. It arrives ahead of the Scarlett Johansson, who is now the highest paid actress, "Black Widow" film which still seems to be in production and farther down the road. In "Captain Marvel," Brie Larson will star in the lead role, and superhero movie fans are anxious to see that first look at some new footage. As of Wednesday (Sept. 5), they just may have their wish granted. Larson dropped a major tease online on Tuesday (Sept.
4).
Larson teases the internet
Brie Larson will become Captain Marvel for the 2019 film. Her character will also have a substantial role in the "Avengers 4" film which still doesn't have a title. However, it will be the sequel to "Avengers: Infinity War," and the surviving superheroes will need backup. That seems to include Captain Marvel.
Fans have yet to see any footage from the new "Captain Marvel" film, though. There have been a few set photos, but nothing as far as a trailer. However, Brie Larson tweeted on Tuesday, telling EW that she was "bored." She asked if they were interested in "breaking the internet" on Wednesday, to which EW gladly replied, "Yes! Meet us here at noon ET." They added that something "Marv-elous" is on the way.
Larson confirmed with "It’s a DATE!"
Hey @EW I’m bored. Wanna break the Internet tomorrow?

With a tweet of that magnitude comes great expectations and a responsibility to deliver on the promise. The thing that would break the internet for sure is an actual trailer of some sort. It could be as simple as a photograph of Larson in her Captain Marvel costume with Nick Fury (Samuel L.
Jackson). Most fans are hoping for movie footage with Larson in the suit and in action. Other reports have suggested that the reveal could be giving information on what the "Avengers 4" movie title will be.
EW unveils exclusive magazine
Unfortunately, fans learned there was no trailer just yet. Instead, EW revealed that their upcoming issue will feature Brie Larson in the Captain Marvel costume on the cover.
It will also feature new details inside regarding the upcoming film. While it's not a trailer, there will surely be some interesting tidbits inside for fans to digest, for now.

EW's Devan Coggan indicated that the issue promises quite a bit inside, including new photos, interviews, and character details. Coggan also indicated she traveled to "an alien planet (a.k.a a sand quarry in Simi Valley)" and hung out with "Carol Danvers" to talk about the superhero. Over at EW's website, they also indicate they'll be rolling out some of the new exclusive movie details in the coming days.
Marvel movie fans will be on the edge of their seats waiting for the news.
'Captain Marvel' movie details
In terms of where "Captain Marvel" fits into the MCU, it will take place in the 1990s, so it's ahead of the "Avengers: Infinity War" film. However, it will be important in the timeline, as it shows how Larson's superhero came to be associated with Nick Fury, the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers. In a spoiler alert, Fury was shown in a post-credits scene sending a message out to Captain Marvel for help just before he disintegrated (from the Thanos snap).

The movie stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel) and Samuel L.
Jackson as Nick Fury, in those important roles. In addition, Gemma Chan, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Annette Bening, and Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson) will be a part f the cast. McKenna Grace will take on the role of a young Carol Danvers.
"Captain Marvel" will be the first Marvel film that Netflix won't stream due to Disney's new streaming service taking over. However, the official "Captain Marvel" film will soar into theaters everywhere on March 8, 2019. "Avengers 4" is slated to arrive in May 2019.
