Candidates of Miss Earth 2017 were treated to a special dinner event hosted by Manila Yacht Club on October 10, Manila Informer reported. This year’s coronation night will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines on November 4.

The girls were wearing sashes, long gowns and cocktail dresses during the dinner event. This is part of the many pre-pageant activities lined up before the final event next month.

Mona Taio, the delegate from the Cook Islands, was wearing a flower in her hair and commented that the food was excellent. Some clips of the dinner were recorded via Facebook live.

Manila Yacht Club is one of the sponsors of this year’s event. The delegates are also set to visit the pageant’s partner hotels such as Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Ilocos Norte and Pontefino Hotel in Batangas. They are also slated to visit the municipality of Carles in Iloilo, Norman’s Blog reported.

More activities

Some of the candidates paid a visit to a popular pizza chain in the area, Don Henrico’s, on October 11. Participating delegates included the contestants from Spain, Angola, Russia, Belarus, Peru, and Costa Rica, among others.

On October 9, the delegates from U.S. Virgin Islands, Thailand, Czech Republic, Uganda, and Venezuela made a guest appearance on the Local morning show titled “Umagang Kay Ganda.” The current titleholder, Katherine Espin from Ecuador, also joined them on the show.

Espin earlier graced an event called “Inquirer Read-Along Festival” hosted by one of the leading newspapers in the Philippines. It was a story-telling event held on October 5.

Visit to Mindanao

Furthermore, six delegates of Miss Earth 2017 are slated to visit Cagayan de Oro City in the southern part of the archipelago, CDODev.com reported.

The group will include Spain’s Ainara de Santamaria, Cameroon’s Angele Kossinda and Kyrgyzstan’s Begimai Nazarova. Also joining them are Viktoria Viczian from Hungary, Juliana Franco from Colombia and Elsa Antoun from Lebanon.

The ladies will participate in eco-tours and environmental activities in the province from October 19 to October 21.

They will stay at Stargate Dream Vacation Resort, one of the hotel partners of the event.

More than 80 delegates from all over the globe will vie for the coveted crown in the 17th edition of the pageant. This year’s team is called “Heroines Fighting Climate Change,” featuring the ladies in their superhero attires.
