Last week’s episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations showed huge development in the ongoing Field Trip Arc. Boruto Uzumaki and his classmates headed for the Land of Water for their school’s field trip.

The class landed in the Hidden Village of the Mist and introduced a new character named Kagura Karatchi, who is surely set to become one of Boruto’s allies in the future. Kagura, Boruto, and the rest of the gang went through a huge ordeal in the latest episode, which strengthened their friendship.

Kagura’s past unveiled

In the previous episodes of “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations,” there were huge hints that Kagura was burdened with his impending responsibilities. The former Mizukage, as well as the current one, have been rooting for Kagura to become the next leader of the village and the successor of Chojuro’s sword, which will make him one of the members of the legendary Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

Kagura was conflicted because he didn’t think he was worthy enough to inherit such honorable titles.

It was then revealed in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 27 that the young boy actually had a traumatizing past.

Apparently, he is the grandson of the fourth Mizukage named Yagura Karatchi. Aside from being a Jinchuriki, Yagura was infamous for his bloody and tyrannical reign over the Hidden Village of the Mist, which became well known in the past as the Bloody Mist.

According to Kagura, he is unable to wield a sword because his lust for bloodshed, which he got from his grandfather, had a huge tendency to take over his will. He recalled one bloody incident involving his classmates, claiming further that he was incapable of becoming a leader.

Kagura's renewed conviction

In the previous episode, Boruto and his friends learned that Denki Kaminarimon was kidnapped. The gang sought the help of Kagura instead of notifying the teachers, knowing well that he was strong enough to subdue their enemies.

Denki was kidnapped by Tsurushi Hachiya and his group of delinquents from the Hidden Village of the Mist. The delinquents still believed in the glory of the Bloody Mist and wanted to prove their might by defeating Boruto, the son of the famous Naruto Uzumaki.

However, Tsurushi’s forces were no match for Boruto and Kagura’s joint efforts. Not only did the young boys save their friend, Kagura was also finally able to overcome his fear.

In a battle to save his friend and to show that he was different from his grandfather, Kagura was finally able to wield a sword with no qualms, thanks to Boruto’s encouragement. Tsurushi was able to escape unscathed, but he met a brutal demise at the hand of their leader, Shizuma Hoshigaki, after relaying the embarrassing outcome of their plan.
