Tarek El Moussa went through tough times in the past that made him stronger than ever. Before his marriage with Christina fell apart last year, the male "Flip or Flop" host was diagnosed with testicular cancer around the same time the doctors found out he had thyroid cancer in 2013.

'Flip or Flop' host diagnosed with thyroid, testicular cancer

The HGTV personality has previously said that a fan, who happens to be a nurse, alerted him of the lump on his neck which prompted him to see the doctor. Tarek El Moussa later discovered he had thyroid cancer and thanked his supporter for calling his attention.

"It was just such an amazing experience to meet this person because she stepped up and did what others probably wouldn't have done," he said.

It was not until early this year when the "Flip or Flop" host revealed that he was also diagnosed with testicular cancer a few weeks after the initial diagnosis. Tarek El Moussa, however, decided to keep it a private matter before he realized the need to raise awareness for people who may be suffering from the same disease.

"I know that when I came out with thyroid cancer, a lot of people found out they also had thyroid cancer. So, I feel it's something I had to do," he explained.

Tarek opens up about his life after cancer diagnosis

The HGTV star is now doing well and, in fact, back in business to continue flipping homes.

But regardless of what happened in the past, Tarek El Moussa is not ashamed to share what he had to battle through to get to where he is right now.

"Over the course of 10 months I lost 50 pounds from all the pain meds which prevented me from wanting to eat, and I was nauseous all the time," he wrote. "I remember those days."

He went on to reveal the effects of the diagnosis on his physical appearance.

But instead of treating it as an embarrassment, the "Flip or Flop" host thought he could use his old photo as a reminder that nothing is impossible as long as he has hope.

"While I went through this it was the first time in my life I wanted to quit! Thank god I didn't...or I wouldn't be standing tall today," the TV star added.

He also encouraged his followers never to lose hope in times of difficulties. His heartfelt message was well received by his fans who commended the "Flip or Flop" host for inspiring them with his story.

Some of them even shared their own emotional stories, while more sent their well-wishes to the TV personality and his family. Tarek El Moussa is currently co-parenting his two kids, Taylor and Brayden, with Christina. The two are also working together as "Flip or Flop" co-hosts.
