British actress Emily Mortimer attended a presentation dinner at the New York Fashion Week on September 5. The dinner was hosted by fashion designer Rachel Comey, Daily Mail Online reported.

Mortimer will portray the role of Jane Banks in the upcoming sequel to the Walt Disney classic “Mary Poppins” in 2018. Jane Banks is the daughter of antagonist George Banks and Winifred Banks, who first appeared in the 1960s version of the film. It was portrayed by actress Karen Dotrice.

The 45-year-old actress wore a simple but elegant white dress, coupled with red mules and stylish footwear.

She chose to wear a minimalistic attire and pair this with another simple gold-colored bracelet.

Her ensemble was in tune with the prestigious fashion event on Tuesday. Her shoulder-length hair was beautifully styled and she carried a black handbag to complete the entire look.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’

There has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming sequel to the Disney classic, which is titled “Mary Poppins Returns.” Mortimer is set to join other actors in the film, such as Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, Meryl Streep as Topsy, Colin Firth as William Wilkins, Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, and Julie Walters as Ellen.

The original “Mary Poppins” movie, from which the sequel is based, tells the story of a nanny who was hired by a family in London.

She played a key role in bringing the children closer to their parents.

The movie is among the most successful productions. It has won several Oscars including Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Music, and Best Effects. It was nominated in the same award-giving body in the categories of Best Picture and Best Director.

This time, “Mary Poppins Returns” will be set during the Depression era with Michael Banks and Jane Banks all grown-up.

They now have children of their own, who will also be visited by Poppins. She will again help them rediscover happiness in their lives, Digital Spy reported. The movie will be released on Christmas Day in 2018.
