Fans rejoice! The TV #anime adaptation of the popular home drinking-themed manga entitled “Takunomi” will hit the small screens this 2018.

What is ‘Takunomi’ all about?

Haruto Hino wrote the comedy series. Its name literally means drinking at home. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s manga app called Manga One. The Ura Sunday website also featured the #Manga Series since August 2015. Because of its popularity, it got a fourth volume that was released in Japan this week.

The story of the manga centers on the main protagonist named Michiru Amatsuki. The 20-year-old recently moved from Okayama to Tokyo to search for a job.

She starts her new life in the city by joining a female-only share house named “Stella House Haruno.”

Other than the warm welcome from her housemates, Amatsuki found something fun in the share house. Everybody loves drinking. She enjoys the drinking life with her housemates who are from different jobs and age groups.

Who will lead the story?

Tomoki Kobayashi will direct “Takunomi.” Kobayashi is the director behind the hit series “Utawarerumono” and “Akame ga KILL!” Production IMS will lead the anime production. This is the same production house behind the series “Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia” and “#High School Fleet.”

Other anime series to look forward to

Other than “Takunomi,” another popular series is making waves in the anime world. The novel entitled “Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai” or “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” recently released a vague yet lovely trailer for next year.

The novel is published in 2015 and written by Yoru Sumino. It tells the story of the high-school aged narrator named Takumi Kitamura and his quest with his classmate named Sakura Yamauchi. He discovers Sakura’s Disease Coexistence Journal. The doctors diagnosed her with pancreatic cancer and only has one year to live. The narrator proceeds to tell the story about the time he spent with Sakura and later, with her friend named Kyoko.

As the story progress, Takumi grows closer and closer to Sakura with the known fact that she will leave him soon. He spent most of his time with Sakura who eventually dies.

After 12 years from Sakura’s death, Takumi is already a high school teacher from the same high school where he graduated from. While he was talking to his student, he suddenly remembered the many months he spent with Sakura. On the other hand, Kyoko, Sakura’s friend who eventually because of Takumi’s friend as well, is soon to be married. Kyoko also remembers the days she spent with Sakura which she considers the happiest day of her life.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” is a slice of life series which tackles about friendship, love, high school, and death. It also shows the value of friends even after several years. The recently released live-action film adaptation of “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” was a big hit in Japan. It stars the popular actor Shun Oguri as the adult narrator. The anime series will also premiere in 2018.
