“Narcos” season 3 is about to come as Netflix now drops its new trailer introducing the Cali Cartel. As Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) is now dead, the crime drama’s continuation will pick up the story of his drug trade’s successor.
A new drug empire is about to rise and will be the main focus of the web television series. The DEA agents will be now in a new hunt to take this illegal trade down in Colombia once again, but it looks like it might be more difficult for them this time.
Introducing the new drug lords
“Narcos” Season 3 is going to introduce the richest drug-trafficking organization in the world, the Cali Cartel.
It is led by four powerful and influential godfathers namely Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela (Damian Alcazar), Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela (Francisco Denis), Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann), and Chepe Santacruz Londono (Pepe Rapazote). These four have their own ways to handle their business perfectly and to keep themselves in a low-profile to be away from the spotlight.
In the show’s third season, they are expanding their territory from Colombia to New York City. And they won’t just stop there as they are also planning to make it bigger, reaching other countries.
In the new trailer, the DEA agent Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) returns to hunt these drug lords. In fact, he will be asking for American and Colombian law enforcement’s help against their war on drugs.
“Try to go through the Cali bosses, all you’ll get are more bodies,” he got warned. He was also advised that this kind of people never make mistakes.
The rise of the new drug empire
Moreover, “Narcos” Season 3 is about to feature the repercussion of Pablo Escobar’s death. It will focus mostly on telling the story of the narcoterrorist’s successor.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Eric Newman revealed that the Cali cartel has knocked Medellin cartel down. In fact, it has benefitted from its loss rising to be the number one drug dealer in Colombia after being left behind in the second spot. Evidently, the country has a rotating story about the narco kingpins, and the Netflix series is planning to make the most of it.
Since the web drama started, they have decided to call the show "Narcos" instead of Pablo Escobar as they wanted to continue the story of illegal drug trade in Colombia and the drug war after his death. “We had always planned on continuing on,” he confessed.
“Narcos” Season 3 will be released on Sep. 1 on Netflix. It also has new cast members Matias Varela, Michael Stahl-David, Miguel Angel Silvestre, and Arturo Castro.
