Hajime Isayama has finally released the new chapter of the ongoing #Attack On Titan manga series. Otherwise known as #Shingeki No Kyojin,” the latest chapter finally reveals the other side of the story that started it all.

Anybody who has read the manga or watched the anime series would know how the lives of Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert changed in just a blink of an eye. The three resided in Wall Maria, the outermost part of the walled city of Paradis and the city was deemed impenetrable by Titans, keeping them safe from any harm.

Reiner’s past

However, one fateful day, back when they were still young, a titan shifter attacked Wall Maria and allowed the mindless titan minions to enter Wall Maria and wreak havoc in Shiganshina District.

The unexpected incident shook Paradis City and cost many lives, including Eren’s mother.

Everybody has been trying to figure out where the titan shifters suddenly came from and why they unexpectedly attacked. In the new chapter of the “Attack on Titan” manga series, the story behind the attack has been finally revealed and explained.

In the previous chapter of the said manga series, readers were taken back to Reiner Braun’s past, putting into light how he got selected to be the Armored Titan Shifter and ended up in an important infiltration mission with Annie Leonhart, Bertholt Hoover, and Marcel Galliard. As revealed in the early chapters, Reiner was haunted by Marcel’s death.

The trio changes mission

It was explained that Marcel’s death, as well as their first meeting with Ymir, was the beginning of their long stealth mission.

Annie, Reiner, and Bertholt deviated from their original mission after Marcel’s death and decided to infiltrate Paradis’ government by joining its troops.

In “Attack on Titan” Chapter 96, they finally found the walled city of Paradis after being chased my mindless Titans but because there was no other way to get inside without raising suspicion, Berltholt transformed into the Colossal Titan shifter that destroyed Wall Maria and triggered the historical fall of Eren’s hometown. Just like the people of the Paradis, the three Marleyan spies were actually running for their lives and they had to make use of their powers to survive.

The three eventually sneaked in and it took them a couple of years to gain information on the original Titan's whereabouts, which was their original assignment. In a delicate and organized attempt to retrieve the original titan shifter that holds the power of the coordinates, they eventually joined the 104th Training Corps and as revealed in the first few chapters, Reiner and Bertholt joined the Survey Corps while Annie joined the Military Police Brigade to become closer to the royal family. #Attack on Titan chapter 96
