Sam Heughan has made his mark as Jamie Frasier for "Outlander" and most cannot help but look back at his humble beginnings. It turns out that he does have plenty to show, including evidence that he was part of Hamlet back in 2007.
A photo cropped up on Twitter (courtesy of @citizenstheatre) showing him when he took on the role of Guildenstern. It answered a query made by a fan (@DebbieD21394980), asking Heughan if he ever wanted to play Shakespeare. Obviously, the 37-year-old actor has already done that.

Sam Heughan has been around quietly
While that should be a startling revelation to Sam Heughan fans, it seems that he has done a whole lot more.
Though these may not have garnered the same level of attention he is currently getting with "Outlander," the throwback photos are priceless and worth looking into.
Other roles Heughan has taken on include playing "Hugh Tennent." Many may have overlooked his role here thanks to the curly mustache and quirky dress from the historical skit.
Aside from that, Sam Heughan also had roles in some sports-themed films. He played Livingston FC footballer Andrew in 2005 and "Batman" on stage in 2011. Though not as popular as the films, the role seemed to fit Heughan when it was shown at Glasgow’s SECC.
Struggling to crash other series
"Outlander" has been doing fine so one has to wonder if Heughan would have done the same with other series.
One of the top ones today is "Game of Thrones" and it turns out he did audition for that several times too.
“I auditioned for Renly, Loras, some of the members of the Night’s Watch. “And I’d always get so close! I’d be like, “Guys, just give me a sword!” recalls Heughan. The experience and areas for improvement may have eventually helped, seeing how he has been doing well with the "Outlander" series.
Other facts about Sam Heughan
Seeing how Heughan has been around, there are plenty of other facts worth noting about the buzzing star. There is his natural hair color (reportedly a blonde) which he dyes weekly to adapt to the show.
His name, though not really out of the ordinary, had origins too. It turns out that he was named after a "Lord of the Rings" character, Samwise Gamgee – the guy who accompanied Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) as both tried to dispose of the dreaded ring.
With so much to digest behind Sam Heughan, more stories are likely to come. For now, however, it is all about "Outlander" season 3 that is set to kick off on Sept. 10. Thanks to the throwbacks from his past, the expectations of him this coming season may have just gotten bigger.
