One Direction's Harry Styles will be introduced in Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk." It's the first time the world will get to see if the young singer also has some acting chops aside from a good singing voice. But while his role in the movie is of supporting cast next to Tom Hardy's lead role, it's fair to say that his presence on "Dunkirk" has become big news, especially for One Direction fans around the world.

Harry Styles' co-star on "Dunkirk," however, has made remarks about all the attention the former boyband singer receives that it might look like someone’s jealous of his popularity.

Fionn Whitehead, who plays one of the main soldiers featured in a film set in World War II, spoke openly about being overshadowed by his co-star.

"I think it's got a bit silly really," Fionn Whitehead told Digital Spy. "The meaning has got lost somewhere along the way and people have stopped realizing there's an amazing cast," he said, adding that “Dunkirk” has “the crème de la crème of actors."

He's a great guy

Fionn Whitehead, however, wants it known that Harry Styles is a great guy and he did well in the film. But the 23-year-old newcomer believes "Dunkirk" shouldn't be about "Harry Styles doing a movie."

Perhaps the actor was echoing what the public has observed in the "Dunkirk" promotions. For instance, a new poster released for the film had the One Direction star front and center and fans have been sharing the image on social media because of Harry Styles.

Fionn Whitehead also defended that his famous co-star didn't ask that the attention is solely on him as it is the media’s fault. "They have put too much emphasis on this one guy instead of the piece as a whole and the ensemble as a whole."

It's a highly-anticipated movie

For what it's worth before Harry Styles was announced as part of the cast, movie enthusiasts have already been anticipating "Dunkirk" because it's a Christopher Nolan film.

The director, famous for his work on “The Dark Knight,” “Inception,” “Memento” and “Batman Begins,” wrote and helmed the screenplay.

The film is about allied soldiers from Britain, Canada, Belgium and France who battled against the Germans during the war. Christopher Nolan said in press promotions that it’s a survival film more than a war movie filled with blood and violence.

Apart from Hardy, Styles, and Whitehead, critically-acclaimed actors like James D’Arcy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh are also in the cast. The film opens in theaters on July 20. #Dunkirk
