"Teen Mom OG" star Ryan Edwards entered a rehab treatment facility last month, but this isn't the first time that the MTV reality star has sought out treatment for substance abuse. According to Radar Online, Maci Bookout's baby daddy also entered rehab back in 2012 for pill abuse. Ryan's ex-girlfriend, Dalis Connell, says that she and Ryan's family admited him to an "outpatient rehab in December 2012" because he "was taking Roxycodone."
Ryan's ex-girlfriend tells all
Dalis, who appeared on "Teen Mom" during her 2-year relationship with Ryan Edwards, also revealed to the site that she was the one who broke the devastating news of drug abuse to Ryan's parents, Jen and Larry Edwards.
Dalis claims that Ryan's mother, Jen, was "100 percent in denial" about her son's drug problem, while his father, Larry, "pulled the secret" out of Dalis, and was "fed up" with Ryan's behavior, which is the reason he went to rehab in the first place. Sadly, Ryan's rehab treatment was short-lived, and he only lasted one week in the program. Connell reveals that Edwards "wasn't interested in rehab" and Ryan relapsed when he "wanted the withdrawals to stop."
Fans knew there was a problem
The Inquisitr reports that Ryan Edwards entered rehab for a second time last month and that he also married his fiance, Mackenzie Standifer before doing so. The couple, who got engaged late last year, were planning to wed later this year, but for some reason, possibly Ryan's drug problems, had them move up their wedding date.
The "Teen Mom OG" star had been dodging drug rumors for about a year, when fans noticed his unusual appearance and behavior on the MTV series. Although Ryan denied the rumors, fans persisted that there was a problem, and during a recent episode of the show, Maci Bookout detailed her fears for her baby daddy.
Maci Bookout fears for Ryan's life
Maci told her "Teen Mom OG" co-stars Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood that Ryan Edwards was in trouble, and that she often feared for his life. Bookout opened up to her friends about her concerns for Ryan, and added that his family was in denial about the situation. Later, Maci told her husband, Taylor McKinney, that she was going to tell Ryan he needed to go to rehab straight out, and hopefully the treatment would save his life.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, perhaps Ryan will open up about his drug related issues during a future episode of the show. However, for now the Edwards family has decided not to comment on Ryan's rehab stay, or his drug abuse issues.
