Since the days leading up to the release of Katy Perry's latest record, "Witness," the singer and songwriter has been on the headlines, and with good reason. First, she changed her look, ditching her sometimes raven-black or outrageously pink or violet hair for a sleek, boyish blonde do, which many likened to Justin Bieber. She cut her hair again and how sports a 'do that's still familiar among pop culture fans, as it is reminiscent of Miley Cyrus' coming-of-age transformation. Next, Perry made headlines again when she brought up her supposed "beef" with Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Taylor Swift, for whom she allegedly wrote "Swish Swish." Then, Perry livestreamed herself gearing up for the release of "Witness," in which she let everyone in on one therapy session where she admitted to depression and thoughts of suicide.

Whatever Perry's publicity strategy is for "Witness," it seems to be working.

'Witness' singer put an end to her beef with Taylor Swift

Whether it was intentional or not, Katy Perry's fans would never know if she kept talking about her supposed feud with Taylor Swift just to get attention. The supposed feud began when Swift released "Bad Blood," which was, again supposedly about Perry. But Swift never said the words "It's about Katy Perry," so the lines are blurred. However, Perry seemed to take it to heart and is now only reacting to it. She took to James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" to talk about it, saying that it's about time that the feud ended. She also recently opened up about the supposed feud, saying that she forgives Swift and wishes the best for her.

Swift hasn't reacted to Perry's many statements about her over the past weeks, but has returned her entire musical catalog back on streaming services on the very same day Perry dropped "Witness."

'Swish Swish' singer doesn't care about her awards

Katy Perry is the recent subject of a New York Times profile, in which she had some choice words for the award-giving bodies that recently have honored her.

As per Variety, Perry has won several Billboard Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and People's Choice Awards, and has even been nominated for a Grammy Award 13 times. But as per Perry, "All the awards that I've won are fake." In the music industry, the only award that actually bears more weight than the others is the Grammy Award, which may be the reason why Perry remains flippant about her awards—she hasn't won a Grammy yet.

'Chained to the Rhythm' singer talks changing her image, acknowledges negative feedback

Katy Perry is well aware of the negative feedback that people have about her new look and style. But she has this to say to people who support her: "I'm not a con artist, I didn't con people...that was just me. And this is me now." The singer explained, "It's a departure, and it's a necessary evolution that I have to take." Perry will have to wait and see how the feedback to this change translates to album sales and tour sales, as she just recently announced her tour.
