Good adventure films have sports, dangers, and other elements to entertain the audiences. “Under an Arctic Sky” explores the lives of a group of surfers in Iceland as they deal with various problems in the country. It was one of the main selections of the Tribeca Film Festival and is now showing in Rapid City.

New York City finished preparations for its most prestigious, the Tribeca Film Festival. The 11-day fest began on April 19 with its full grace. According to The Economic Times, some of the movies and shows were screened multiple times throughout the event, while the others premiered only for once.

Since its foundation in 2002, the fest is held every year in the third week of April. This year’s festival featured performances by Cybill Shepherd, Katie Couric, Spike Lee, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hanks, and Robert De Niro.

A plethora of projects

It would not be wrong to say that the festival brought a plethora of premieres from around the world. Nearly 100 movies and documentaries were screened for a prize. The fest opened with the premiere of “Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives,” a short film by Chris Perkel. Later on, Aretha Franklin and Jennifer Hudson entertained the audience with their dance performances.

The Circle” and “Aardvark” are among the most prominent fiction premieres. “The Circle” stars Emma Watson and Tom Hanks in the leading roles, while “Aardvark” features Jon Hamm and Zachary Quinto as criminals.

Also, “Love After Love,” starring Andie MacDowell as a widow, premiered on April 20. “Blame” and “The Crucible” were screened on the third day of the festival. Burt Reynolds plays an old Hollywood celebrity in the movie “Dog Years.” “Abundant Acreage Available” features Amy Ryan in the leading role, and “The Endless” is a family film.

The three movies graced the festival on April 25.

Other projects in the lineup

Other projects in the lineup include “The Clapper” featuring Ed Helms, “Manifesto” starring Cate Blanchett, and “The Divine Order” with Guillermo Pfening as a struggling actor. All of these movies hit a theater near you this summer. Celebrities like Steve Coogan, Marion Cotillard, and Debra Winger will entertain the viewers with their stage performances.

The short films lineup includes “Copwatch,” “Hell on Earth,” “City of Ghosts,” “Shadowman,” and others. In a total, 120 short films and documentaries were chosen from more than 3,400 entries from around the world. The annual fest enabled international filmmakers and the general public to experience the power of films. Single tickets and family packages were available online.
