Netflix has released its May lineup of international movies, Television Series, short films, and documentaries. The acclaimed sitcom “Girlboss” is arriving at the streaming giant next month.
Britt Robertson has played Cinderella in this oddly perfunctory Netflix debut. Its story is inspired by the autobiography of Sophia Amoruso. The production of the series began in February last year when Netflix announced that the first 13 episodes would be uploaded to the website in summer 2017.
Principal photography took place both in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
We are waiting for ‘Girlboss.'
“Girlboss” is a comedy series developed by Kay Cannon for Netflix. Charlize Theron, Sophia Amoruso, Beth Kono, Laverne McKinnon, and Christian Ditter have fully financed the project. Britt Robertson, Ellie Reed, Johnny Simmons, and Alphonso McAuley portray Sophia, Annie, Shane, and Dax, respectively. Dean Norris, Norm Macdonald, RuPaul Charles, Jim Rash, Louise Fletcher, and Melanie Lynskey have played the supporting roles.
Entertainment dominance of Netflix
Netflix is a famous entertainment company owned by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings.
They laid the foundation of this company in August 1997, in California. It specializes in DVD by mail, and video-on-demand online. Since 2007, the company has expanded its business to Blu-ray rental services and started developing short films and television series.
Earlier this month, Netflix reported having more than 96 million subscribers, including over 40 million in Canada and the US. It would not be wrong to say that Netflix is the most famous and successful dot-com venture. The New York Times has reported that Netflix mailed more than 130,000 discs per day in the first week of September 2002. Every month, it replaces several old television series and movies with the new content.
Major changes coming in May
The most anticipated new content hitting the streaming giant in May is political drama “House of Cards.” Also, Netflix will launch new episodes of “Master of None,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and “F is For Family.” “Sense8,” “The Last Kingdom,” “War Machine,” “Handsome,” “Inglorious Basterds,” and “Doctor Strange” will also join the website.
If you are a fan of “Scrubs,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Parts Unknown,” the bad news is that all these projects are leaving Netflix this weekend. “Chocolat,” “Don’t Think Twice,” “Love,” “Bodyguards: Secret Lives from the Watchtower,” “When the Bough Breaks,” and “Beyond the Gates” will be up for viewers next month.
No doubt, Netflix is very active in acquiring, producing and releasing new television series and films. The website is financially generous with its acquisitions.
