Zsa Zsa Gabor died at age 99 of a heart attack on Sunday evening. She would have reached her 100th birthday in just a couple of months from now on February 6, 1917. The well-known Hungarian actress and socialite was rushed to the hospital from her Bel-Air, Los Angeles home where she was pronounced dead.

Heath issues

The former actress had suffered a number of health issues over the years. After a car accident in 2002, Gabor had to use a wheelchair. In 2005, she suffered a massive stroke. In 2010, she broke her hip from a fall.

After her right leg became infected in 2011, it had to be partially amputated to prevent gangrene from spreading.

Gabor's husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt continued to host birthday parties for her. Because she was so sick, guests didn't even see his wife. She was bedridden, and no one was allowed in her bedroom. She had been on life support for the past five years.

The actress and socialite

During her acting career, the Hungarian-born socialite played in nearly 80 television shows and movies. Most of the time, she played herself.

Besides acting, Zsa Zsa was known for her extravagant lifestyle in Hollywood, along with her glamorous personality and multiple marriages. She was married nine times. She was once married to actor George Sanders and to Paris Hilton's grandfather, Conrad Hilton, the hotel mogul. Gabor was divorced seven times, and one marriage was annulled after only one day.

Zsa Zsa and her famous sisters

The Hungarian-American actress and socialite had two sisters who were also actresses.

Magda Gabor was an older sister who died at the age of 81 on June 6, 1997. Magda was married six times. One of her husbands was George Sanders, the actor who was married to and divorced from Zsa Zsa. Magda was widowed twice, divorced three times, and one marriage was annulled. She had no children.

The younger sister, Eva Gabor, died at the age of 76 on July 4, 1995. Eva was the star of the 1960's sitcom "Green Acres." She was buried next to her friend and former co-star Eddie Albert.

Eva, like her two sisters, was married more than once. She was married five times and had no children.

Zsa Zsa is survived by her ninth husband, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt. Her only child was Francesa Hilton who died in 2015. Unfortunately, Gabor did not know about her daughter's death last year because she was too sick herself to handle the news. The actress' husband was going to honor his wife's dream next year to help her move back to her native Hungary and live out the rest of her life there. There were plans for this to happen after her 100th birthday celebration in February 2017.
