"The Voice" 2016 resumed Dec. 5 on NBC as the top eight contestants sang for spots in next week's finals. A quick look at the iTunes top 200 charting results shortly before the broadcast began on the west coast revealed that two contestants had already notched top 10 placements. So which two hopefuls earned early iTunes vote multipliers and are on the fast(er) track to earning one of the four available spots in the finale?

Sundance Head, Billy Gilman lead 'The Voice' top 8

For the third consecutive week, Team Blake's Sundance Head held an early lead in "The Voice" 2016 iTunes vote, as his cover of The Judd's hit "Love Can Build a Bridge" ranked number seven on the iTunes chart as of press time.

If the song holds its position (as it almost certainly will) through the close of the week's voting window --9 AM Pacific tomorrow morning-- Head will claim his third iTunes bonus of the season.

Also in excellent position to score an iTunes vote multiplier with his semifinal show offering was Team Adam's Billy Gilman, whose show-closing cover of "I Surrender" ranked eighth at press time. The bonus will be the former child country music star's second of the season.

'The Voice' semifinals: Full early iTunes charting results

The complete rundown of early iTunes vote results noted at 8 PM Pacific time on the night of live show was as follows:

  • 7. "Love Can Build a Bridge," Sundance Head
  • 8. "I Surrender," Billy Gilman
  • 13. "To Worship You I Live (Away)," Christian Cuevas (Team Alicia)
  • 15. "Danny's Song," Josh Gallagher (Team Adam)
  • 21. "Angel," Brendan Fletcher (Team Adam)
  • 23. "Scars to Your Beautiful," We McDonald (Team Alicia)
  • 25. "I Will Always Love You," Ali Caldwell (Team Miley)
  • 61. "(Everything I Do) I Do it for You," Aaron Gibson (Team Miley)

Given that Cuevas and Gallagher's covers earned early placements in the top 20, they could very well enter the top 10 before the voting window closes.

To see if that happens, check the iTunes top 200 chart at 9 AM PT on Dec. 6.

"The Voice" 2016 resumes with tomorrow night's semifinals results show, when half of the hopefuls will be sent home.
