"The Voice" 2016 continued last night on NBC as the top eight took part in the series' high-stakes semifinal round of competition. With just four berths available in next week's finals, the top eight duked it out vocally via tunes by popular artists from Dolly Parton to Celine Dion for the chance to continue in the quest for the season 11 title. According to iTunes vote results for the week, which were finalized as of the 9 AM Pacific end of the voting window this morning, four of the hopefuls walked away with iTunes vote multipliers, which could well give them an advantage during tonight's "The Voice" top eight results show.

'The Voice' 2016 semifinalists finish one-two-three on iTunes

Taking top billing for the first time in recent history was former child country star Billy Gilman, whose stirring, show-closing cover of Celine Dion's "I Surrender" shot all the way to number one. The two-spot on the iTunes chart went to Blake Shelton protege Sundance Head's version of "Love Can Build a Bridge" by The Judds, while Josh Gallagher --who, like Gilman, is a member of Team Adam-- finished third with his cover of the Kenny Loggins' hit "Danny's Song." The fourth and final contestant who finished in the iTunes top 10 following "The Voice" 2016 semifinals and earned a five-times vote multiplier was Team Alicia's Christian Cuevas, whose emotional cover of "To Worship You I Live (Away)" finished the voting period at number five.

Trouble for the rest?

The remaining four contestants placed outside of the top 10 and could face an uphill battle when it comes to making the final. The iTunes charting results for their selections were as follows:

  • 11. Brendan Fletcher (Team Adam), "Angel"
  • 12. We McDonald (Team Alicia), "Scars to Your Beautiful"
  • 14. Ali Caldwell (Team Miley), "I Will Always Love You"
  • 42. Aaron Gibson (Team Miley), "(Everything I Do) I Do it for You"

During the Dec. 6 results show, three contestants will advance to the finals based on the public vote, while two will be instantly eliminated from contention.
