The music promotion and media company Blackbird Presents, is producing an enormous concert event to pay tribute to The Band in honor of their last performance. Joining the tour will include Michael McDonald, Warren Haynes, Jamie Johnson, and John Medeski. The tour commemorates the 40th anniversary of The Band’s final concert. The original concert, "The Last Waltz" was captured on film and produced by Martin Scorcese.

Paying tribute to a legendary band

The big show begins on January 21 in Hollywood, Florida at the Hard Rock at Seminole and concludes on February 4 in Washington, D.C. at the Theater at MGM National Harbor.

The Band’s music is timeless and is still played on classic rock radio. The tour promises to be an event that the fans of The Band will never forget and their music and legacy will continue. The Band's hits include, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "The Weight." A concert in New Orleans in the beginning of 2016 proved successful, featuring music's top talent Michael McDonald and Warren Haynes. Due to the show's success, the tour has been extended to several dates around the country including three dates in the tri-state area.

The Last Waltz: 40 years of great music continues

It is a shame that The Band broke up. If they held out longer, they could have achieved greater success in the music world.

Luckily, their music lives on in the hearts of their many loyal followers. One of their bandmates, drummer Levon Helm died of throat cancer in April 2012. He was admired by many and will be greatly missed. Several music legends have been added to the bill and more guest artists are scheduled to be announced.

Over the years, Levon has toured with his own band at smaller venues in the tri-state area.

It's hard to imagine that 40 years have passed since The Band disbanded. The Last Waltz lives up to its name because it really marked the end for The Band.

The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY had a similar concert last month to celebrate The Band’s milestone performance.

Lastly, additional artists were just added to the lineup. Artists such as Bob Margolin, Dave Malone, Ivan Neville and Mark Mullins have just been added to "The Last Waltz 40 Tour" Lineup.
