"Sons of Anarchy" fans received some good news today. It's been announced that a spinoff of the television show has been ordered by the FX network.

Production begins in March

The final season, Season 7, of "Sons of Anarchy" aired on FX in 2014 with the series finale taking place on December 9, 2014. Since the show came to an end almost two years ago, there has been a lot of talk, buzz and rumors about a spinoff.

Now it can finally be confirmed that something is truly taking place.

The name of the spinoff is "Mayans MC" and the FX network did verify today that they ordered a pilot of the show. The script for the pilot was written by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James and Sutter will be producing "Mayans MC" with James serving as the co-executive producer. Sutter is the creator of "Sons of Anarchy," where he also acted as the shows writer, producer and director.

You would often see Sutter on the "SOA" after-show, "Anarchy Afterword." His other work includes writing, producing and directing another FX hit show, "The Shield."

Newcomer to the SOA franchise.

Unlike Sutter, Elgin James isn't a familiar name to many people. James is a director and musician who has been in a few different bands over the years and has written and directed a number of independent films.

This may be the big break that James has been waiting for.

The pilot for "Mayans MC" is slated to begin production in March of 2017. It has not yet been announced when the series will begin airing. The television show will focus on the Mayans motorcycle club, who were a huge part of the seven seasons of "Sons of Anarchy."

It is unknown at this time whether or not any of the original actors who played members of the Mayans motorcycle club in "SOA" will be taking part in this upcoming project.

More information and news on the highly anticipated series will certainly be coming out over the next couple of weeks and months.

Sutter has been extremely active on Twitter today, tweeting news articles about "Mayans MC" and retweeting comments from excited fans.
