It is a meaningful family name. The first name is Charles in honor of Savannah's father. He will be called Charley with this spelling. Savannah's father died from a heart attack when she was 16. Charley's middle name is Max to honor his father's grandfather.

The parents did not know the sex of their first baby until after Vale was born. Unlike her first pregnancy, Savannah and Michael chose to learn the gender of the second baby in order to prepare Vale for her role as big sister.

Congratulations from fans

Savannah's colleague, Matt Lauer, was the first visitor at the hospital to see the newborn son just like he was the first at the hospital to see the newborn daughter two years ago.

The other co-hosts congratulated Savannah on the "Today" show on Friday morning.

Fans quickly congratulated Savannah and commented on how she looked immediately following her labor and delivery. On Facebook, fans said that the mother looked absolutely beautiful without makeup and without her hair done for the cameras. Like a lot of other female celebrities these days, Savannah chose not to have her hair and makeup done for her photos.
