Family troubles

For their whole career, the Wachowskis have worked as a team. But for "Sense8," Lilly Wachowski, who recently came out as trans, took time off to focus on herself. Lana Wachowski worked on "Sense8" without the help of her sister. "Lana is an absolute superwoman" said Jaimie Clayton to Buzzfeed news, "The way she channels her energy and her creativity … it keeps me in absolute awe whenever I’m in her presence. She’s an absolute force.”

Capheus “Van Damme,” will no longer be played by the same actor.

Ami Ameen left the show, but the character is staying -- the actor has been replaced by Toby Onwumere, a graduate of UC San Diego. Naveen Andrews, who plays Jonas Maliki, also appears to not be in the Christmas special.

Season 2

The Christmas special begins right where Season 1 ended. There is no time jump. We find our heroes on the run from Whispers, trying to protect each other from him.

According to an interview with Buzzfeed, the central goal in season two will be defeating Whispers (played by Terrance Mann).

Max Reimelt, who plays Wolfgang Bogdanow, said to Buzzfeed that “There’s more sex, more violence, more of everything! We’re pushing the boundaries,” Viewers will remember the detailed mind-orgy scenes of season one. It may not be possible for the show to push that envelope much further.

The Christmas special will be available to stream on December 23rd, and the second season will be available to stream May 5th, 2017.
