Kanye West requested a 15-minute meeting with President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday, December 13. Since Trump had a cancellation, he was able to meet with the rapper. It has been two weeks since Kanye was released from UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was there for nine days due to exhaustion.

The meeting

When the news first broke that Kanye was meeting with the next President of the United States, there weren't any details about the purpose of the meeting. Some speculated that Kanye discussed plans for singing at the Inauguration Ball on January 20, 2017.

However, that was not the case at all. Later, after the meeting, Kanye set the record straight and revealed why he met with Donald Trump at Trump Tower in New York City. It had nothing to do with him performing at a Trump event.

Kanye's tweet

It was almost a guarantee that one of the men was going to tweet about the meeting and give the reason for it. Both men are avid tweeters, but it was the rapper who revealed the details of the meeting. The 39-year-old singer took to Twitter and posted that he met with the 70-year-old Trump to discuss multicultural issues.

He itemized the issues to include bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence and killings in West's native Chicago. The musician wanted to put these issues before the Trump administration so Chicago can be a priority.

Trump was receptive to West's visit. He told reporters that Kanye is a good man, and they have been friends for a long time. After taking photos, the two men shook hands, hugged, and the future President told Kanye to take care of himself, and that he would see him again soon.

Kanye tweeted to his 26 million followers that he believes it is important to have a direct line of communication with Trump if change is to take place. Ivanka Trump was in the meeting, but she did not pose for pictures with the two men.

Another reason West was in New York

Kanye and Kim Kardashian West reside in Los Angeles with their daughter and son.

However, Kanye combined his visit to see Trump with his search for a New York apartment. It was reported back in October that West took out a $2 million line of credit from JP Morgan on a New York City apartment. The focus of Kanye's tweets today were about his meeting with President-elect Trump, with no word about whether or not he found an apartment.
