The movie Produced by Jayanti Lal Gada has been directed by director Sujoy Ghosh.

Contrary to expectations, the flick is not a sequel to its previous version "Kahaani". However, the makers have promised it to be as engrossing as the first edition. The rushes of the film suggest that it has something in it to attract the crowd.

Box-office numbers

The movie started with around 20 percent occupancy in theaters and multiplexes in India.

The box office collections are expected to be good on day one and the first weekend as is no other Hindi movie released today. Stay tuned for the box office collection details.

Vidya Balan gives a powerful performance

Vidya is mouthing dialogues like “Diary main koi jhuth likhta hai kya…” suggesting that it will be a thriller where a diary will be an important part. Vidya is probably playing a split personality of Vidya and Durga Rani Singh.

The film also stars Arjun Rampal in the lead role.

Balan is playing the role of a hardened criminal in the flick. She gets threatening calls and is on a run to save the life of her daughter. During the run, she meets with an accident and lands in a coma

Watching the dialogue promos suggest that space will be dominated by the dusky actress who started her career with TV and was a character in the highly popular "Hum Panch."

Watch public response.

The latest promos show the actress all bruised and battered but not down and out.

Her eyes flash and have the element of eeriness which was so very evident in "Kahaani" where she plays a vulnerable and pregnant lady manipulating others for avenging the death of her husband.

The actress has been choosy about her films and well known for playing strong female characters, and her latest release is no different.

Arjun Rampal plays a brooding cop who is trying to unravel the mystery surrounding Durga Rani Singh.
