Grammy nominations for 2017 have been revealed. While some of the nominations might be surprises, others were expected. Beyonce has received the highest number of nominations. During her career, she has garnered 62 nominations in total. That's more nominations than any other woman in Grammy history.

About 13,000 Recording Academy members voted in the 84 Grammy categories. Albums and songs released from October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016 were among the 22,000 submissions that were eligible for nomination.

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will be presented in Los Angeles' Staples Center on February 12, 2017, and broadcast on CBS. It will be music's biggest night that will be hosted by James Corden, host of the "Late Late Show."

Beyonce's nine nominations

Beyonce already has earned 20 Grammys. For the next awards ceremony, it seems like she was nominated in every category possible, with the potential to earn more Grammys. The 35-year old is the first singer to receive nominations in four categories in the same year.

Those categories for Beyonce include rock, pop, rap and R&B.

  • Best rock performance - "Don't Hurt Yourself" with Jack White
  • Pop solo performance - "Hold Up"
  • Rap performance - "Freedom" with Kendrick Lamar
  • Urban contemporary album - "Lemonade"
  • Best music film - “Lemonade”
  • Best music video - “Formation”

Beyonce competing against Adele

Beyonce is facing off against Adele in three categories; the only artist to do so.

Beyonce's "Lemonade" and Adele's "25" are competing for album of the year. For song of the year, Beyonce’s “Formation” faces off against Adele’s “Hello." For record of the year, "Formation" and "Hello" compete. Who do you think will win in these categories?

Other multiple nominations

Behind Beyonce are Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West with eight nominations. Adele has five nominations. She competes with Beyonce in three of them.

Like Beyonce, Adele is also nominated for album, song, and record of the year. Chance the Rapper earned three nominations for best rap song. Do you have your favorites already picked out?
