After another successful year for UFC superstar Conor McGregor, which saw the Irishman become the first man to hold two different belts in two different weight classes simultaneously, as well as make a cameo role in the ever popular "Call Of Duty" video game series, it has now been announced that the 28-year old McGregor, is set to make an appearance in season seven of hit HBO show "Game of Thrones," which is scheduled for release next year.

Who will McGregor play in Game of Thrones?

"Game of Thrones" fan site, Watchers On The Wall, had claimed that McGregor was set to appear in the hit show, adapted from the George RR Martins books of the same name earlier this week, but would only play a small role, with the site reporting that McGregor is set to play a soldier in Euron Greyjoy's crew on the ship silence.

However, UFC president Dana White has now confirmed these rumors, even claiming that McGregor had already shot scenes for the HBO fantasy. During an interview with Fox Sports Live, the UFC president revealed that he had been informed a couple of months ago that HBO executives were interested in "putting him in the show" and that he was pleased McGregor had decided to do it.

Will the power struggle between Conor McGregor and Dana White turn 'Game of Thrones'-esque?

As more rumours come to fruition about a possible rift between White and McGregor, after White made the decision last week to strip the Irishman of his featherweight title due to inactivity and award it to the man Mcgregor knocked out in 13 seconds last December, something the UFC president was quick to deny, stating that he respected McGregor and believed that he was "special".

McGregor is currently taking a break from the UFC as he awaits the birth of his first child with long-time partner Dee Devlin but stated at the UFC 205post-fightt press conference that he wanted to have a "talk" with the new UFC owners before he stepped foot in the Octagon again. McGregor has also claimed that he wants shares in the company following its sale for $4 billion earlier this year. Reports have also been made that McGregor could be set to make an appearance in the WWE in the near future.
