When Donald Trump first announced his campaign for president, most members of the media and political pundits didn't give him much of a chance at success. Fast forward to present day and the billionaire real estate mogul is the new president-elect.

Kanye West meets Trump

For decades, Donald Trump has been one of the most high-profiled individuals in the United States. From his lavish casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to his Trump Tower high-rise in Manhattan, Trump's real estate deals put him on the map.

However, it wasn't until Trump landed the job as the host of the reality show "The Apprentice" that he was able to re-enter the spotlight. Trump's fame brought with him a certain notoriety that attracted big stars, as the president-elect was known for his parties and get-togethers with other celebrities. As reported by MSNBC on December 13, hip hope star Kanye West made his way to Trump Tower for a meeting with Trump.

Making his way into Trump Tower on Tuesday morning was Kanye West, though the nature of the meeting with Donald Trump is unknown.

West is less than a month removed from being hospitalized for exhaustion after abruptly canceling a concert at the last minute. Sources close to the rapper say that dealing with the recent armed robbery of his wife, Kim Kardashian, as well as the anniversary of his mother's death, put extra stress on the award-winner star.

West world

While most thought of it as a joke, Kanye West has spoke about running for office in the past, with a recent announcement claiming he would run for president in 2020.

Though the idea of West being selected to join the cabinet of Donald Trump sounds like a joke and a long shot, stranger things have happened during the 2016 election cycle.

Moving forward

While his meeting with Kanye West is likely just a gathering of two old friends, Donald Trump is continuing to finalize his cabinet. Over the last 24 hours, Trump has selected Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson as his new Secretary of State, while sources also report that former Texas Gov.

Rick Perry will be tapped to lead the Department of Energy.
