On Sunday, Zsa Zsa Gabor, an icon, passed away in Los Angeles. The former beauty queen and actress was 99. Edward Lozzi, Gabor's former publicist and her friend, said she died around one in the afternoon. Lozzi said Gabor did not suffer fools well. He described Gabor as being tough and that her mouth could sometimes be her own worst enemy if she decided to turn on the verbal machine gun. He added that most of Gabor's problems started from her mouth, which he described as beautiful. He also said Zsa Zsa Gabor is an American icon and she will always remain one.

Gabor's health woes

Since 2010, Gabor has been dealing with health woes. Her problems followed a fall, which left her hospitalized. After the fall, she had to undergo hip replacement surgery. However, the actress had to return to the hospital on numerous occasions because she suffered from swelling and clots. Much of her right leg was amputated due to gangrene.

In 2011, Zsa Zsa was admitted into the hospital after blood started to flow through a feeding tube that was inserted in her stomach. Prior to that, Gabor was shocked over the death of Elizabeth Taylor, who she was friends with.

As a result of the death, Gabor had high blood pressure and had to go to the hospital for it.

Zsa Zsa's career

Gabor competed in the Miss Hungary beauty contest in 1936. This was where she got her start in show business. Later in the same year, Gabor sang in "The Singing Dream." Her first major role in Hollywood was in 1952 when she appeared in "Lovely to Look At," and later that year, she starred in "Moulin Rouge," which was her breakout film.

After that, she appeared in numerous other films throughout the course of her career.

Zsa Zsa was born in Budapest in either 1919, 1918, or 1917. The date of birth she usually gave was either the 6th or 7th of February. She was born to Vilmos and Jolie Gabor, and Gabor was one of three daughters. All three attended private schools and they took dancing, acting, and music classes.

She leaves behind her husband.

Gabor also had one daughter from her previous marriage to Conrad Hilton. However, Gabor's daughter, Francesca, passed away last year.
