On Tuesday night, the grand finale of "Dancing With the Stars" season 23 was live on ABC, revealing the final winner results. It had come down to three couples competing for the big prize of the Mirrorball trophy. After weeks of dance competitions, judges critiques, scores, pitfalls and triumphs, only one team could take the win. Would it be Olympic medalist Laurie Hernandez, NFL star Calvin Johnson, or race car driver James Hinchcliffe? Here's a look at who won "Dancing With the Stars" season 23 in the latest winner results.

The final three on 'DWTS'

As mentioned, three pairings remained for the grand finale of "DWTS" on Tuesday night. Just a night ago, country singer Jana Kramer and her partner Gleb Savchenko got the boot, leaving the final three. It was down to Calvin Johnson with Lindsay Arnold, James Hinchcliffe with Shana Burgess, and the favorite Laurie Hernandez with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Over the weeks, previous contestants tried their best on the dance floor but were unable to continue onward towards the trophy.

They included Amber Rose, actress Maureen McCormick, Terra Jole, Marilu Henner, Vanilla Ice, Babyface, Jake T. Austin, Rick Perry, and Olympic athlete Ryan Lochte. All of these celebs gave valiant efforts, but in the end, only one couple could hoist the trophy for "DWTS" season 23. There was even a fitting vocal performance by Jana Kramer to help recap.

Monday night featured part one of the two-night finale.

It was said by sources such as Variety to have received nearly 12 million viewers, which was a huge boost in the weekly ratings for the dance show in comparison to previous episodes. That was the episode that featured the send-off for Kramer, whittling the field down to just three.

And the winners are?

Throughout the season, one celebrity dance contestant stood out amongst the rest, and that was gymnast Laurie Hernandez.

The 16-year-old started the season as the favorite to win it and when it was announced tonight, she and Val had claimed the trophy. It makes a nice addition to Hernandez's collection of medals she picked up at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

This marks Val's second win as a dancer on the show as he previously claimed the trophy with Rumer Willis in season 20. His brother Maksim got a win back in season 18 along with Meryl Davis, making it three trophies for the brothers as they try to climb their way towards Derek and Julianne Hough's record number of wins.

The hit show will roll on for a 24th season at some point, with judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman, and Julianne Hough possibly returning.

The show has been hosted by Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews for several seasons now.

For now, fans of the hit show will savor the win for the inspiring "pint-sized" gymnast Laurie Hernandez and her talented dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy. Congratulations to the latest winners are certainly in order!
