We are in the middle of the Thanksgiving weekend and it is a time to be thankful. What are we thankful for? Let’s be thankful for TV. For a series of reasons, 2016 has been a great year for TV in all its forms: streaming services, cable and broadcast TV. Let's summarize this year's highlights.

New TV Series - 'This Is Us' and 'The Good Place'

In 2016, we welcomed various great new TV shows.

"This Is Us" is one of them. The new NBC's TV Series has been one of the most successful new entry of this Fall, and you can easily understand why. The Milo Ventimiglia's new series is full of tender and heartbreaking moments.

It's a family drama at its best and after Parenthood, NBC is finally airing great quality TV again. Have a look at the preview of 1x09, the next episode of "This Is Us" below:

We are thankful for "The Good Place": Kristen Bell's return could not have been better. This new comedy is funny, witty and has an incredible cast. You will end up needing a weekly dose of Bell and Ted Hanson: these two are amazing.

'The People Vs O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story' and 'Westworld'

Lately FX has been on fire: one of the most critical acclaimed new TV Show is "The People V O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story". This new Ryan Murphy's TV Series has been praised by critics and fans all over the world, and it has won so many awards.

Watching Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding, Jr. is a reason to be thankful for.

"Westworld" is one of the most buzzed and complex new TV Series of 2016. HBO did it again: they trapped us in this mind-blowing world and we are definitely thankful for this.

'The Americans' Season 4, and 'Mr. Robot' Season 2

After a spot-on fourth cycle, FX has also renewed "The Americans" for two more seasons. The TV Series had so many solid and complex hours and the couple Keri Russell / Matthew Rhys has finally obtained some nominations for their incredible work. We will always be thankful for the Jennings.

We all loved "Mr. Robot" season 1, but its second year is beyond incredible. Rami Malek is finally getting recognitions, the story has taken so many gripping and interesting twists and turns: that's the television we are thankful for.

'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life'

I left "Gilmore Girls" at the end of the list, but it's easily the most important reason why 2016 has been a TV year I loved. Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are finally coming back and we can not be more happy and thankful for this. Netflix decided to release the new mini-season during the Thanksgiving weekend: the perfect moment to start a marathon and to avoid to see the light of the day.
