Are you looking for answers? Well, “Timeless” is ready to comply. The Rittenhouse mystery looms large in Eric Kripke’s latest time-hoping adventure, but Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), and Wyatt (Matt Lanter) are slowly chipping away at its edges. Garcia Flynn has his reason for wanting the organization destroyed before it can even begin, and it won’t be long before our heroes discover the root of their foe’s desperation. As always, viewers should be carful what they wish for.

‘Timeless’ finds truth with Nixon

Rufus is the only member of the Lifeboat team that has glimpsed the power of Rittenhouse first hand, and his unscheduled meeting left him shaken to the core.

When “Timeless” heads back to the ’70s in “The Watergate Tape,” Lucy and Wyatt will also get a peek at the series’ dark core.

“The mystery behind the greatest political scandal of the 20th century is finally solved when Flynn (Goran Višnjic) beats our team to the punch in Richard Nixon's Washington,” NBC teased. “While Rufus and Lucy are set on an investigative course that leaves them both rattled to the core, Wyatt's tragic past erupts, and the secrecy behind Flynn's hidden agenda begins to unravel.”

According to Kripke, the answers will come swiftly, but, as with all good mysteries, the truth is often followed by a wake of uncertainty.

‘Bigger, scarier questions’ in the offing

“I am not a fan of the endless tease in storytelling. I like asking questions and then, sooner than anyone thinks, answering the questions and then asking bigger, scarier questions,” Kripke told TVLine. "As early as the Watergate episode [airing Nov. 14], we really start to reveal quite a lot more about Rittenhouse. And we do it again in Episode 10.”

Expect Flynn’s reasons for “killing America in the crib” to become clear by midseason.

“In this first run of shows before Christmas, we’re going to get a pretty good understanding of who they are and what they’re doing — and why Garcia Flynn is doing what he’s doing,” Kripke teased.
