Marvel's new movie Doctor Strangeis taking the box office by storm. The film that stars the incredibly talented benedict cumberbatch is a movie that many have been waiting for. So we thought we would remove some of the 'cloak' and dagger behind this mysterious film. Here are teninteresting and shall we say 'strange' facts you might want to know before going to see it yourself.

Benedict Cumberbatch facts

While Benedict Cumberbatch was filming the movie he went into a comic book store and bought a Doctor Strange comic completely dressed in his costume. Cloak and everything. The man also got a personal trainer to be in better physical shape for the role and upped his protein intake.

One interesting fact about Cumberbatch is out of all the Marvel Movies, Benedict is the fifth actor who has also played Sherlock Holmes. The others include; Christopher Lee, Jeremy Brett, Robert Downey Jr. and Ian McKellen.

Ratings and statistics

Doctor Strange kicked off its opening night on Thursday with a whopping $9.4 million at the box office. The film also already has a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The comics

In the comics the Ancient One is supposed to be a man but in the film the Ancient One is played by a woman, Tilda Swinton. Morgan Freeman and Bill Nighy were both considered for this role at one point.

The making and process of the film

One of the cinematographers, Ben Davis, said he got inspiration from the movie Fantasia which helped him cast what the picture would look like.

Part of the movie was filmed in Asia and in New York City. The Marvel man himself, Stan Lee, does make an appearance in the film which he tends to do in most of the Marvel movies. Patrick Dempsey was interested in playing the role of Doctor Strange and Joaquin Phoenix was also the second choice to portray the character but eventually turned the offer down.

The long awaited film, which also stars Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelson, is now out in theaters for all to see. So run to thenearest cinemawith your cape in hand and check it out. Hopefully it is magically magnificent.
