Liz’s “Blacklist” father is…(drum roll please)…Red Reddington? Maybe? Perhaps? If you’re looking for the truth, apparently Red’s drugged-out confession is nothing to go by. Coming out of the season 4 midseason finale, the dust has finally settled around the Alexander Kirk debacle. As we’re left to ponder Red’s paternal admission, “The Blacklist” will use the spring run to dive into a brand new story.

Is Kirk gone for good?

Liz Keen has no shortage of problems, but her pseudo-father is no longer one of them.

Thanks to Red, Kirk ran off with his tail between his legs, presumably never to be seen again.

“I think it’s pretty certain this is the last we’ve seen of Kirk,” series creator Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly, confirming suspicions that we will never find out what threat Red whispered to Katrina’s husband. “The truth is, we’re not going to find out what he said. That whisper was a secret between the two men who loved Katarina. Besides, if you really knew what Red said the show would probably be over.”

With Kirk out of the picture, Liz is down to just one potential biological father.

At least for now…

Is Red Liz’s father?

Time and time again, Mr. Reddington has denied a genetic connection to Liz Keen. In “Dr. Adrian Shaw: Conclusion,” however, the master criminal pulled a 180. Unfortunately, due to the nature of his confession, the search for Lizzie’s father is nowhere near over.

For his part, Bokenkamp isn’t ready to confirm or deny anything.

“Well, he did say he was her father and he sounded like he meant it. That said, he was also heavily drugged with god knows what,” the writer teased.

“I think it’s best to let the show and its characters answer that. Anything that’s meaningful is in the scripts and on the screen.”

For fans, these statements come as a bit of a blow. After 4 seasons of is-he-isn’t-he, patience is starting to wear thin. It’s high time “The Blacklist” put it’s core mystery to bed – what is Red’s connection to Liz?
