Singing sensation Patti Labelle is widely known for her incredible vocal skills, along with an enviable talent for creating mouth-watering dishes. Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pie was an instant hit in Walmart stores evident by the dessert’s inability to stay on the freezer shelves. Once Los Angeles native, James Wright Chanel posted a video regarding his joy after tasting one of the pies, the video went viral with five million views and Walmart could not keep the pies in stock. LaBelle has since come out with a couple of new cakes.

Now the iconic Ms. LaBelle will be sharing and whipping up a few of her favorite recipes on her new show “Patti LaBelle’s Place” on The Cooking Channel.

The Philadelphia native first introduced the world to her “other” gift through her New York Times best-seller cookbook “LaBelle Cuisine: Recipes to Sing About” in 1999. However, those in the music industry have known for decades that the singer could run circles around any chef in a kitchen since she cooked for many of them while traveling on the road.

Everyone is cooking on stage and off

Recently, lifestyle entrepreneur Martha Stewart and rapper Snoop-Dogg have joined forces to host their own cooking and entertainment show. Viewers can expect Labelle to fix traditional soul-food dishes like: “Over the Rainbow” macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, crab cakes, greens, sautéed string beans with garlic peach cobbler and vegan dishes.

Some of Patti LaBelle’s celebrity guests will include Whoopi Goldberg, Gayle King and her “Dancing with the Stars” partner Artem Chigvintsev.

Guest star rapper 50 Cent will be treated to a slow-cooked brisket, with southern-style fried corn and smashed potatoes. LaBelle, who is a diabetic, stated she will not have a sous chef assisting her on the show. The songstress has penned two other cookbooks titled “Recipes for the Good Life” and “Patti LaBelle’s Lite Cuisine.” The six-episode series is scheduled to debut December 3rd on The Cooking Channel.
