Alright, so if you're here, we're guessing you were looking for the new "Law And Order: Special Victims Unit" episode 7 of season 18 to air tonight, and are now greatly disappointed to see that a new episode of Chicago P.D. has taken over it's time slot. Yes, it's very unfortunate, and I'm here for you. Nah, just kidding. But seriously, I'm going to tell you guys what's going on.

The show is on a long break

Most of the networks do this ,every year, with at least one or more of their shows. "Law and Order: SVU" has currently hit their Fall/holiday break, so there will be no more new episodes until the beginning of 2017.

Thanks to the guys over at the lawandorder.wikia page, we were able to track down an air date for the new episode 7.

Episode 7 is for a January 4th air date

It turns out that NBC has it scheduled to finally air on Wednesday night, January 4th, 2017 at 8pm central time, so be sure to pencil that date and time in on your TV schedules. We also got a title for episode 7. The producers have decided to name it: "Great Expectations." They also were kind enough to supply us with a short teaser synopsis for the episode.

A short synopsis for episode 7

In episode 7, it turns out that we're going to see a really vicious locker room hazing take place among a group of players that are on a top youth hockey team, and this will of course, prompt the SVU crew to launch a serious investigation into the matter, so somebody's going to get in big, big trouble before it's all said and done.

NBC's episode switch ups

The first half of this season, experienced some heavy mix-ups with scheduling of the episodes.

The network decided to push back one of the episodes. Then, for some strange reason, they didn't air a new episode during the MLB World Series even though they didn't cover the World Series.

Last week, it was so bad that I couldn't even list the press release for the new episode, because all my sources were listing different titles and plotlines for which episode was due to air next. Basically, the episodes got so jumbled up that no one really knew which one NBC was airing next.

I'm still tentative about this episode 7 title and description, but hopefully the wikia folks are correct.

Expect more, new episodes after January

Anyways, NBC will have a lot of catching up to do with the airing of this season, because they've ordered 22 episodes, and will only have aired 6 of them by January. So, you guys should expect to see less reruns during the Winter and Spring 2017 run.
