Walt Disney Pictures in collaboration with Marvel Studios released their new sci-fi/åction/super hero flick: "Doctor Strange" into theaters this weekend, and all the top movie critics in the business, have indeed, served up their reviews and opinions. It turns out that most of them really enjoyed this thing, giving it a really high, overall score of 72 out of a possible 100 at the Metacritic. com site. A total of 49 critics reviewed it, so a lot of the critics got in on the fun for this one.

The movie stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Benjamin Bratt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, Scott Adkins and Tilda Swinton.

I've gone over some statements that a few of the critics said, below.

Cumberbatch was just awesome

Peter Travers over at "Rolling Stone," gave this thing a really great 88 grade. He really complimented Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange performance, comparing him to the likes of Ryan Reynolds' "Deadpool" and Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man."

Alonso Duralde from "TheWrap," gave it another really nice 88 grade too. He said the finale of the movie, was really great, saying it was like nothing he'd ever seen before.

He also commented on how well the special effects shots were put together, claiming they were pure wizardry!

It was both thrilling and intelligent

Chris Nashawaty from Entertainment Weekly, gave it a nice 83 grade, claiming it has a lot of thrills to it. He also mentioned that you can tell there was also a lot of thought put into it, delivering both visual and intellectual entertainment.

Manohla Dargis over at "The New York Times," gave it a nice 80 score.

She commented on the space and time warping and mirrored realities, claiming they were an absolute blast to watch! She said such things like: they awaken wonder, and make you ask: "how in the hell did they do that?"

"Doctor Strange" delivered lots of originality

"Variety" publisher, Peter Debruge, gave it an 80 grade, claiming that it has a lot of originality and freshness that a lot of comic book films are missing.

Sara Stewart over at the "New York Post," gave it a 75 score. she said it delivered the classic storyline of an evil villain, trying to take over the planet, but that it was way more fun to watch than a couple of other Marvel films that she's recently seen.

A very fun movie to watch

Michael Phillips from the "Chicago Tribune," gave it a another 75 grade. He said the movie was definitely fun to watch. The special effects were very stylish and worth the price of an Imax 3D ticket. And that even the dull parts were livened up by the wonderful actors.

Michael O'Sullivan from the "Washington Post," gave it a 63 score.

He said that, overall, the movie delivered an original, fun and trippy experience.

The movie lacked direction

Lastly, Joe Morgenstern form the "Wall Street Journal," gave it a pretty mediocre 50 score, claiming that the special effects became very repetitious, and that the plot started to lose direction right when Strange was starting to get the hang of using his newfound abilities. Stay tuned.
