The Duggar clan celebrates the holiday Thanksgiving with their newest family member. On November 14, 2016, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar adopted a little boy, Tyler Wayne Hutchins, a week before the festivities. His birthmother, Rachel Hutchins, placed her son with his grandmother and Michelle's sister, Carolyn.

Unfortunately, the older woman suffered a stroke, so Hutchins searched for another outlet. She allowed her uncle and aunt, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, to gain guardianship of Tyler. These contentious Christians are known for their many mistakes, but their act of kindness could gift Tyler with provisions of food, shelter and love.

Another adoption is possible

Daughter Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald relay their thoughts about the adoption process.

On the hit series "Counting On," the couple prayed for a large family blended with both biological and non-biological children. According to People, Jessa states, "We hope to adopt a lot of kids. If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it's not going to quench our desire to adopt." They have a passion for parenting, and their desire to head an expanding homestead is more of a reality than a dream. Jessa is pregnant with her second baby, and her firstborn Spurgeon will embrace his responsibilities as a big brother in February 2017. Like Jessa's own parents, her aspiration includes progeny birthed from home and away.

The race between sisters Jessa and Jill

Jessa Seewald's older sibling Jill Dillard is distraught. She only has one toddler, Israel, with husband Derick, but she wants more babies. During the reunion special of "Counting On," Derick cradles his wife as she cries over obvious disappointment and disbelief. In 2015, the two sisters were expectant mommies, but now, only Jessa is pregnant. Hopefully, Jill, Derick and Israel will grow from a group of three to a group of four.

The missionaries deserve happiness as much as their counterparts, Jessa and Ben Seewald, but the Christmas season may rejuvenate their broken spirits.
