When James Corden became the host of “The Late Late Show,” he didn’t stick to just playing host and interviewing Celebrities. The show features plenty of bits and games to keep the audience entertained, but one of the most popular is easily “Carpool Karaoke,” in which Corden drives around with a celebrity guest, singing along to music and chatting between songs. The next guest he’s got lined up might be one of the biggest yet - Madonna.

Madonna and James Corden hit New York

Though Corden has filmed around Los Angeles for the most part in the past (with trips to London and Washington, DC as well), this edition of “Carpool Karaoke” will film in New York.

Madonna shared an image of the duo behind the scenes, captioning the picture, “riding around Manhattan with this Hunk of Burning Love.”

While that could just mean the celebrity duo were spending time together between engagements, a producer for the “The Late Late Show” also shared the image later and confirmed that Madonna would be an upcoming guest.

Madonna finished a concert tour earlier this year. Corden was playing double duty in New York, hosting the Ad Council’s Annual Public Service Awards dinner on Wednesday.

A surprise hit

Celebrity karaoke can be hit or miss. After all, an audience already knows that musicians can sing, so where’s the fun in watching someone like Selena Gomez singing along to the car radio? The fun comes in just what music ends up making the cut on the show - it isn’t always a song that the artist has previously recorded - and in what happens between the songs.

Audiences loved the “Carpool Karaoke” segment so much that the segments that had already aired as part of the late night talk show were put together in the form of a special, broadcast in March of this year.

The most popular ‘Carpool Karaoke' segments so far

The segment with Adele is the most viewed on Youtube with more than 173 million viewers to date. Corden drove Adele around the streets of London in January before airing the segment.

The duo talked about her performing again after having a child, sang along to some of her hits, and even pulled out some Spice Girls and Nicki Minaj karaoke for good measure.

One Direction, Sia, and two bouts with Justin Bieber round out the top five, all having close to 100 million views each. While Corden usually has musicians on the show, he’s also had Broadway performers and even first lady Michelle Obama.

There’s no word yet on when the Madonna segment of “Carpool Karaoke” will air as part of “The Late Late Show,” but viewers will likely see it before the end of the year.
