It’s time for the “Hawaii Five-0” reunion we’ve all been waiting for. After over three seasons off the grid, Doris McGarrett (Christine Lahti) will return to the fold in “Hawaii Five-0”’s 150th episode. Between her impending execution and her fraught relationship with Steve (Alex O’Loughlin) himself, Mama McGarrett’s long-awaited return will dredge up the bitter past.

In “Ka makuahine a me ke keikikane (Mother and Son),” Doris’ plan to jailbreak Wo Fat’s father will result in her capture and her promised execution.

It will be up to Catherine Rollins and the Five-0 team to save the day, but, with 20 years of lies and disappointment hanging between Steve and his mother, the rescue mission will be fraught with difficulties.

“You know, it’s an interesting thing because if this actually happened to you — if you were Steve McGarrett and you had this experience with your mother where she disappeared for 20 years and faked her own death and lied to you continually and then came back and made you promises and didn’t keep them and left again—at what point do you sort of give up?” O’Loughlin mused while speaking with TVLine. “And if you don’t give up, what does that look like?”

Knowing Steve’s penchant for loyalty and second chances, we’ll likely see the latter.

‘Hawaii Five-0’ promises flashbacks

As the milestone episode unfolds, viewers will get a look at a young Doris (played by Emma Schlamme) alongside a 10-year old Steve (played by Nicolai Makana Perez) and a 15-year old Steve (played by Jacob Miller).

“Doris is a basket case, and as a result of that, Steve carries a lot of baggage about that woman,” O’Loughlin teased.

Get ready to find out exactly what that baggage is when “Hawaii Five-0” airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Click the video below to see a preview for “Ka makuahine a me ke keikikane (Mother and Son)” and check out the episode summary.

“Five-0 must free McGarrett’s mother, Doris (Christine Lahti), when Catherine (Michelle Borth) informs them that she was captured and is about to be executed after attempting to free Wo Fat’s imprisoned father,” CBS teased. “Also, Chin loses his appeal to have Sara’s adoption delayed, and she must move to Mexico.”
