Fans may not like “General Hospital” spoilers about Matt Cohen casting his eyes on prime time. Father Griffin Munro is super-sexy and has the potential for great fan appeal but he seems to be losing one storyline after another. That plus Cohen’s new role on “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” has some fans worried.

Matt Cohen has recurring role on 'CMBB'

GHspoilers and news announced recently that Cohen snagged a plum recurring role on the cop show, playing Ryan Garrett, the son of lead character Jack Garrett, portrayed by Gary Sinise.

The role is recurring for “CMBB” season 2.

Will Cohen do such a good job that the CBS cop drama will try and lure him away from “General Hospital”? This is troubling since Griffin seems at loose ends on “GH.” He’s not Charlotte’s daddy, Claudette is gone and all Griffin has in his life is Anna Devane. Is his character superfluous?

The 'Supernatural' factor

There’s something else to consider. Matt Cohen, if you didn’t know, played young John Winchester on The CW’s “Supernatural” and he’s still tight with the “SPN” crew.

“Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” executive producer Adam Glass worked with Cohen on “Supernatural.”

Guesting on “CMBB” in season 2 are other “Supernatural” stars and friends of Matt Cohen including Osric Chau, Rob Benedict, and Richard Speight, Jr. Its got to feel like old home day on the “CMBB” set for Cohen, and primetime is higher profile than a daytime soap, and could be better for his career.

Will 'GH' lose Matt Cohen?

Executive producer Adam Glass tweeted a pic of Matt Cohen on the “CMBB” set saying, “love this guy” and while he did thank “GH” for working with them to allow Cohen on the show this year, that doesn’t mean they won’t try and steal him away.

Landing a permanent role on the show would be a big success story for Cohen so the fact is, if the reviews come in solid and fans love him on the international cop show, “GH” fans might be losing the sexy priest-turned doctor. Will you tune in to see Matt on “Criminal Minds”?

“Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” season 2 premieres on CBS on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC.
