Ben Higgins had had enough with the stress of wedding planning. “The Bachelor” Season 20 star has called off his wedding to fiancée Lauren Bushnell. Viewers saw the drama played out on the most recent episode of the couple’s Freeform reality show, “Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After.” During a couple’s counseling session, Ben told Lauren he wanted to put a halt on their wedding plans. But that doesn’t mean Higgins and his lady love are no longer together. While he’s not ready to jump head first into marriage, Ben has been vocal about the fact that he and Lauren are still together and “happier than ever” now that the wedding pressure is off of their shoulders.

Why Did Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell Cancel their Wedding?

Ben Higgins told "Entertainment Tonight” that he and Lauren are currently in “the best place” they have ever been in their year-long relationship. So why put the brakes on the “I dos?” Higgins says he doesn't want to rush a wedding to the woman of his dreams. Indeed, the couple’s whirlwind romance has gone full speed ahead since they first met on the 20th season of "The Bachelor." So Higgins just wants time to enjoy his relationship with Bushnell without all of the added pressures of planning a rush wedding.

Ben and Lauren have been keeping fans in the loop regarding their wedding plans and have not ruled out tying the knot in front of ABC’s cameras. But the pressures of a quickie wedding are very real when it’s on a network schedule, so now the couple will have to decide if they want to remain on their own timetable or open up their calendars to network programming execs.

Is Ben and Lauren’s Relationship on the Rocks?

Some fans are concerned about Ben Higgins’ relationship with Lauren Bushnell. The couple got engaged in Jamaica within weeks after meeting, but earlier this year eyebrows were raised when they started attending couple’s counseling. At the time, Higgins chalked up the pre-marital therapy sessions to just being proactive. Ben said he wanted to make sure that Lauren knows everything about him and his past, and vice versa.

The couple also had to work through the aftermath of 'The Bachelor," when Lauren found out that Ben had professed his love for his runner-up, JoJo Fletcher, as well as her.

Higgins has long said that he and Bushnell are not in any rush to get married, but that everyone around them is pressuring them to walk down the aisle. Now it sounds like this couple has decided to do things their way.
