“Agents of SHIELD” is suffering from an extreme case of disappearing characters. With four members of Coulson’s team MIA, it’s safe to say the Marvel series needs to cure this blight ASAP.Eli Morrow played our heroes like a fiddle, and, in doing so, he seemingly wiped Coulson (Clark Gregg), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), and Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) out of existence.

Where are SHIELD’s missing agents?

In the MCU, Eli Morrow isn’t a serial killer. He is, however, a power-hunger scientist with an axe to grind. After years in prison, Ghost Rider’s uncle got what he wanted all along – a good long look at the Darkhold and a chance to become something more than human.Unfortunately, Eli’s little experiment generated a blast that seemingly dematerialized everyone left inside the power plant.

As far as the rest of SHIELD is concerned, Fitz and co. are as good as dead.

“The way we see it is they are dead,” Henry Simmons (Mack) told Entertainment Weekly. “In my mind, they’re gone, they’re dead, because that’s everything we’ve experienced so far.”

Between Fitz’s brain, Coulson’s fighting skills, and Robbie’s powers, we’re loath to believe the trio is gone for good. Wherever they are, there must be a way back. Why do we say that? Well, for one thing, Ghost Rider makes an appearance in the series’ episode 7 promo (see video below).

Where is Simmons?

In “Good Samaritan,” you didn’t need to be in the way of Morrow’s transformation to drop out of the storyline. Director Jeffery Mace (Jason O’Mara) sent Simmons on a mission, one where the final destination remained unknown even to the scientist herself.Considering Mace’s recent deal with the insidious Senator Nadeer (Parminder Nagra) and the fact that our resourceful Jemma just blackmailed her boss, we’re more worried about Simmons then we are the other three.

“Agents of SHIELD” won’t return until Nov. 29. In the meantime, Marvel fans can catch “Doctor Strange” in theaters. With ties to the Darkhold and magic, the Nov. 4 film might be able to answer a few lingering questions.
