Ben Affleck is no accountant in real life, but that's not keeping the Actor from playing one in the new crime drama being released in 3,330 theaters on Friday, October 14, 2016. "The Accountant" of 2016 should not be confused with another movie by the same name. "The Accountant" of 2001 is a 40-minute comedy about an accountant who used his math skills to save a farm. The two films having the same name are entirely different. They don't even fall into the same genre.

The cast

Ben Affleck plays Christian Wolff, a freelance accountant who has taken on a dangerous client. Anna Kendrick plays Dana Cummings, an accounting clerk who discovers a discrepancy in the books.

J.K. Simmons plays Ray King with the Treasury Department Crime Enforcement Division who is tracking Wolff and his work. This is the type of movie that provides the environment for Affleck and the other cast members to shine. They do not disappoint.

The plot

The 128-minute film follows a small town certified public accountant who makes his living crunching numbers for dangerous criminal organizations. In his small office as a cover, the accountant makes big bucks working for dangerous clients. When the accountant takes on a robotics company as a legitimate client, a Treasury agent, played by J.K. Simmons tracks him. People begin dying where millions of dollars are involved. The R-rated film has violence and adult language.

Projection for the movie's success

The Accountant" already has been projected to earn at least $23 million in ticket sales during the first weekend.

That amount is a little over half of the $44 million it took to produce the Warner Bros. film. There are a lot of good movies in theaters right now. If you love a good thriller, plan to see "The Accountant."

The financial thriller is projected to push “The Girl On the Train” from the top that earned $24.5 million in ticket sales its first weekend. "The Accountant" will make much more than Nate Parker’s Nat Turner film, “The Birth of a Nation” that opened last weekend earning only $7 million.
