Dhanush fans are all in a state of ecstasy as his new Tamil movie "Kodi" was released in India and the US on October 28, 2016.

Directed by Durai Senthilkumar of ''Kaaki Sattai" fame, "Kodi" has created a big pre-release hype, and it is clearly reflecting in the theatres.Most of the screens all around Tamil Nadu are witnessing more than 90 percentage attendance, and in all likeliness, this film will emerge as a safe bet for the producers.

'Kodi' is a finely crafted political thriller

As expected, this movie is an in and out political thriller with a considerable number of adrenaline rushing moments. Dhanush has played two different roles, and the actor is making such an attempt for the first time in his career.

The film showcases all the tricks and tactics used by Indian politicians to reach the heights of power. One character played by Dhanush is that of a common man, while the other one is a daring politician.

One of the major highlights of this movie is the excellent performance by Trisha Krishnan. The actress has enacted a role with grey shades for the first time, and she has excelled in it completely. Saranya Ponvannan who enacts the character of Dhanush's mother too has did a fine job.

The movie is very strong on its technical side. The director has crafted "Kodi" in such a way that it will not make the audiences bored even for a minute.

Venkatesh's cinematography is top notch, and the visuals are soothing. Santhosh Narayanan's songs were all peppy, and the editing by Prakash Mabbu is sleek.

Box-office earnings

Considering the initial rushes of the movie, "Kodi" is expected to gross somewhere around Rs 15-17 Crores by the end of this opening weekend. The film is locking horns with another flick "Kashmora" at the box-office, and we should wait for some more days to know who is the ultimate winner.

In other parts of India, the movie is likely to get affected by two big Hindi releases "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" and "Ajay Devgn's "Shivaay".
