For anyone who was quick enough, they got a sneak peak at the first teaser trailer for the much anticipated upcoming movie adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” today. Unfortunately for most of us, we missed it.

The first teaser for “The Dark Tower” is planned to premiere at Entertainment Weekly’s “Popfest” at the end of October, but as mentioned, some sorry employee of Sony Pictures in Taiwan has probably lost their job after leaking an unfinished version of the trailer on their (presumably YouTube) channel.

The trailer then quickly did the rounds, ending up with a version on Vimeo, but as far as can be seen, all versions have now disappeared into digital heaven.

The unfinished trailer for "The Dark Tower" was "epic"

According to, the trailer was "epic" and while reportedly some of the CGI was unfinished and a lot of green screen was dotted around the footage, it was apparently pretty awesome. They report that the trailer gave a good first look at Idris Elba in his role of Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black, and even gave a peek at the infamous Dark Tower itself., said that most of the teaser was devoted to the young Jake Chamber’s journey from the present day Earth to Roland’s Mid-World. They quoted a lot of great action between Roland at the Man in Black’s minions, along with some pretty scary monsters. Their report also said that while the film claims to be a loose sequel on the original Stephen King books, they did see quite a number of changes to the material in the upcoming movie. does mention Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) as being in intensive therapy in our modern world, because he keeps mentioning dreams about a Man in Black and a destroyed world, along with another man who can stop him, i.e.

the Gunslinger. In the teaser Jake does, apparently, find his way to Mid-World, where he gets to meet Roland and the Man in Black in person and finally realizes that the fate of his own world (our world) is also in danger.

"The Dark Tower" - one of the most exciting films to come in 2017

Going back to the report, they state that the trailer ended with Roland saying that he does not aim with his hand, he aims with his eye, and that he doesn’t kill with his gun, he kills with his heart, a statement which is pretty close to the original story. According to them, having been able to see the leaked trailer tells them this film could be one of the most exciting releases of 2017.

The film will also star Jackie Earle Haley and Kathryn Winnick and is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel. While we will have to continue to wait until the end of this month for the completed trailer, "The Dark Tower" is set to hit theater screens on February 17th, 2017.
